Milford Track – Bridge over Clinton River (Neuseeland)

Der Milford Track ist eine der weltweit bekanntesten sowie beliebtesten Mehrtageswandertouren in Neuseeland. Täglich dürfen 40 individuelle Hiker auf den Track starten. Es ist schwierig ein Permit zu bekommen, da der Track frühzeitig ausgebucht ist. Die Gesamtlänge des Trails beträgt 53,5 km. Er wird in 4 Tagen begangen, die Übernachtungshütten sind festgelegt und bei Buchung auf doc.govt.nz des Tracks ebenfalls reserviert. Die Betten sind einfach, Matratzen sind vorhanden, es muss jedoch ein Schlafsack mitgebracht werden sowie Kochutensilien.

Tag 1: Glade Wharf bis Clinton Hut, 5 km, 1:30 Std.

14.00 Uhr: Bootstour von Te Anau Downs nach Glade Wharf, 1:15 Std.

15:15 Uhr: Flacher 5 km Hike entlang des Clinton River von Glade Wharf bis zur Clinton Hut, 1:30 Std.

Tag 2: Clinton Hut bis Mintaro Hut, 16,5 km, 6:00 Std.

7:00 Uhr: 16,5 km Hike von der Clinton Hut bis zur Mintaro Hut.

Sehenswert ist der Prairie Lake sidetrail und die St Quintin Falls.

Tag 3: Mintaro Hut bis Dumpling Hut, 14 km, 6:00-7:00 Std.

7:00 Uhr: 14 km Hike von der Mintaro Hut bis zur Dumpling Hut. Heute ist der Mackinnon Pass zu überwinden, daher beginnt der Tag mit einigen Höhenmetern bevor jenseits des Passes der lange, aber idyllische Abstieg beginnt. Dort wandert man entlang des Roaring Burn River mit seinen Wasserfällen.

1 Stunde vor dem Erreichen der Dumpling Hut gibt es einen empfehlenswerten Sidewalk zu den Sutherland Falls, dem höchsten Wasserfall Neuseelands. (+ 1:30 Std.)

Tag 4: Dumpling Hut bis Sandfly Point, 18 km, 5:00 Std.

6:30 Uhr: Flacher 18 km Hike von der Dumpling Hut bis zur Schiffsanlegestelle Sandfly Point entlang des Arthur River, vorbei an den MacKay Falls, Lake Ada und den Giant Gate Falls.

12:00: Bootstour vom Sandfly Point bis nach Milford Sound. (20 min)
